Grub Roses Project

This project can be stitched using two methods. The design has been digitised so that either method can be used.

Method 1 (quick method)
Hoop fabric with one layer of tear away stabiliser and stitch out design. (Note - use the same colour for the final three colour changes. The colour changes are to force the machine to stop for those using method 2.) Remove fabric from hoop and remove excess fabric. Trim fabric back to scalloped edge, being careful not to cut any of the threads. Trim away all loose threads from back of work.

Method 2: Applique method

Use pre-washed, pre shrunk fabric. If the fabric is not pre-washed, it may shrink when you rinse out the Vilene, causing the fabric to pucker around the embroidery.

Hoop the fabric with water soluble Vilene. Stitch until the second last colour change (note: use the same colour for the final three colour changes. The colour changes are to force the machine to stop.) If you wish to line the project, remove the hoop form the machine, but not the fabric from the hoop. Attach the backing fabric, facing outwards, to the back of the hoop. Return the hoop to the machine and stitch the next colour. Remover the hoop from the machine but not the fabric from the hoop. Cut the fabric around outside of the holding line of scallops. Trim off enough fabric so that the remaining excess fabric caught in the hoop will not catch in the work - about an inch all round is enough. If using$ a 4x hoop, trim back to the edge of the hoop. If you have lined the project, also trim back the lining fabric to the holding line. Replace the hoop and continue using the same colour to complete the stitching.

Remove fabric from the hoop. Cut back the water soluble Vilene close to the outside edge, then rinse in warm water to remove the Vilene. Press face down on a soft, folded towel.
